Mayor's behavior inappropriate

Wow, I have to get myself a better lawyer, mostly because I sure could use a good job, one that I may not even qualify for.

My lawyer simply represents me, then sends me a bill, which at times is hard to pay, never once offering me a position in his firm so that I may more easily afford his services. He tells me it would be unethical for him to hire a client under any circumstances.

Then again, my attorney also never screams at me if I question his actions. He is also always willing to explain things in detail, no matter what the issue.

It’s a shame the same can’t be said about Vernon Mayor Jason McCoy. No, it seems that the mayor is as short on definitions and job descriptions as he is on knowledge of local geography.

It’s no wonder Town Council member Marie Herbst criticizes McCoy’s actions and questions his integrity — his actions demand it.

Just FYI, Mister Mayor: We all know what an “intern” is. We also know what an employee is. We are also aware that screaming at and threatening a Town Council member is totally inappropriate behavior for an elected official. As is treating the town of Vernon like your own personal fiefdom, while criticizing town employees, skirting (or totally ignoring) hiring protocols while steadfastly refusing to be held accountable to anyone.

I’m thinking that voters will hold you accountable in the next election. Remember, it was a “whopping” 107-vote majority in 2009.

November is right around the corner — thank God.
