New Year’s wish for Vernon

My New Year’s wish for 2012 would be for Vernon’s politicians to set a higher goal in ethics in their decision-making.

I am pleased that former Mayor Jason McCoy is out of office. I am not pleased at all that those who support and defend his “skirting-the-law” behavior are still in office.

Reporters have every right to “rummage through paper and computer files” of elected officials. Otherwise, how is the public to know when shady or underhanded decisions are being made that benefit a few of the “chosen ones” and not the public?

It’s high time that Vernon’s politicians rise to the level expected of them by the voting public: a level that marries ethics to legality as the basis for any and all of its decisions.

What a breath of fresh air in Vernon that would be if only my 2012 wish could come true.
